On-site energy production obviously needs energy management. To make the most use of the available capacity, accurate predictions need to be made and devices need to be switched.
The Qurrent platform (Qbox, Qserver and Qmunity) automatically handle this optimization. The system collects very accurate and near-real-time data from all individual members and creates predictions from that data. Based on those predictions, devices (consumers and producers) can be switched on or of at the right time or set to other settings.
Many factors
The Qurrent system is able to register many different variables in its optimization routines: current and past usages, weather data, energy rates, system parameters etc. Together they are the basis for the optimization. All within the user preferences of course. The user always comes first.
Our optimization will improve further as more devices become controllable and as we gain more information from the location. Our projects always start with a monitoring phase and as soon as we have enough data to make predictions from, the system can start to actively optimize the local energy system.
Not everything
The system is equiped with several interfaces to connect to appliances and devices. But it won't be able to switch every device in your home or office. Our philosophy is based on the idea that we want to achive the highest economical efficiency on a system; to make the most money out of it. Switching coffee makers, TV-sets etc. doesn't help in improving the usage of locally produced energy and therefore, it does not improve the bottom line. Our system is able to switch the devices that are worth switching to save money.
Custom interfaces
As our system can also communicate at a more advanced level with devices through a serial connection, custom 'drivers' sometimes need to be built. Currently, we need to built those drivers for you, but we expect that manufacturers of heatpumps, chp's etc. will be able to create drivers for their systems themselves in the future through a software tool that we will provide.
